Our commitments

Three ways we take responsibility

  • Our community

We guarantee a safe, inclusive workplace for our team and demand fair conditions for our coffee farmers.

  • A sustainable future

We roast 100% organic coffee, minimize waste, and actively cut emissions to meet the 1.5°C climate goal.

  • Impact over profit

We put people and planet first in every decision. No greenwashing, just 100% transparent, fact-backed claims.

Our commitment to human rights

From bean to cup

At Screaming Beans, we believe that quality goes beyond taste. True quality means that our growth does not come at the expense of people, but rather contributes to a fair supply chain. Everyone deserves good treatment, from the baristas in our stores in Amsterdam to the coffee farmers such as Hidardo Hernandez from Cafesmo Honduras, pictured here.

Everyone is welcome

At Screaming Beans, we believe that great coffee starts with people, from the farmers who grow our beans to the baristas behind our bar and the guests who walk through our doors. That's why it's important to us that everyone feels welcome.

We are actively committed to a workplace free from discrimination, where everyone is treated equally regardless of origin, gender, age or anything else. This applies to our team in Amsterdam, but also to the way we treat everyone in our supply chain.

Our commitment to Human Rights

At Screaming Beans, we believe that quality goes beyond taste. True quality means that our growth does not come at the expense of people, but rather contributes to a fair supply chain. Everyone deserves good treatment, from the baristas in our stores in Amsterdam to the coffee farmers such as Hidardo Hernandez from Cafesmo Honduras, pictured above.

We acknowledge our responsibility to respect human rights, not only within our own team, but also in our collaboration with our suppliers and the international coffee supply chain. Therefore, we publicly commit to respecting fundamental human rights and dignity for everyone affected by our activities.

This commitment is in accordance with the following international standards:

  • The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs)
  • The International Bill of Human Rights (including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights)
  • The ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work

Our commitment applies to:

  • Our Team: We are building a safe and inclusive working environment where discrimination, in any form, has absolutely no place. Whether you are a barista, work in the kitchen, or work in the office: we ensure equal opportunities, transparent treatment, and a culture where everyone can be themselves.
  • Our Supply Chain & Community: For us, equity does not stop at the doors of our Amsterdam coffee bars. We extend this to our supply chain. We are committed to fair, respectful, and inclusive relationships with coffee farmers and cooperatives in countries such as Ethiopia, Colombia, and Mexico.
  • Our Customers: Our coffee bars and online channels are accessible to everyone. We treat every guest with the same respect and ensure that our communication and marketing are a diverse and inclusive reflection of society.

Responsibility: The management of Screaming Beans bears the formal ultimate responsibility for this commitment. They actively ensure that these principles are not just on paper, but are adhered to daily and integrated into our strategic and operational decisions.
